Francesco Bagnaia, starting from pole position, won the Dutch GP in the MotoGP class. The world champion, always in the lead, preceded the Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati Pramac), leader of the world ranking, and Enea Bastianini, author of a great comeback with the other official Ducati, at the finish line in Assen.

For Bagnaia, who also won the sprint race yesterday, it is the third consecutive victory on the legendary Dutch circuit aboard the Desmosedici. The last to achieve this feat was Mike Doohan, at the end of the 90s. The Ducati rider also set the fastest lap in the race, with 1:31.866, to keep Martin at bay, from whom he nibbled away five points in the standings. The Spaniard is in the lead with 200 points, Bagnaia has 190. Marc Marquez follows with 149 and Bastianini with 136.

Weekend to forget, however, for the other Rimini driver Marco Bezzecchi, who crashed in free practice and then also in the race: with 23 laps to go he tried to restart, but then had to retire.

Bagnaia, a perfect weekend

“I enjoyed everything this weekend, everything was perfect and I would also like to thank the fans who gave me a push on this splendid circuit”. This was stated by Francesco Bagnaia, dominator of the Dutch GP. “Today I was fast, I was precise, everything worked perfectly”, added the Ducati rider, who took everything possible in Assen, two pole positions, sprint race, grand prix and track record.

Bastianini: “It wasn’t easy coming in eleventh place”

Enea Bastianini achieved his second consecutive MotoGP podium this Sunday, finishing third in the Dutch GP at Assen – behind only winner Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) and Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati).

Starting from eleventh place on the grid did not make things easy for the Rimini native, but the Ducati rider responded well, gradually climbing the rankings and overtaking fellow citizen Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46/Ducati) on the 22nd lap out of 26 to secure the his final position, which confirms him fourth in the championship: “It’s incredible – he said at the end of the race – I tried to push from the start, but I had some problems with the rear tire – especially on the right side. But lap after lap I improved and I was really close to the podium and I tried to do it. It finally arrived and I am very satisfied with the team’s work. Two days ago we weren’t so good for the Grand Prix, but in the end we are here on the podium and we can be happy.”
