Lamezia Terme – After the 4-0 first leg, one point, obtained with the victory of Beatrice Veltri, was enough to obtain promotion to the women’s Serie B2 in 2025.
The women’s team of SSD Riccardo Viola Tennis & Sports, composed of Anna Pardisi, Beatrice Veltri, Alessia Massimilla, Giulia Mercuri, Chiara Doria and Maria Teresa Del Re, led by the Masters Massimo and Salvatore Viola, arrives in Rome with a modified lineup compared to the first leg. The girls from Calabria start with an advantage, thanks to the clear result of the first leg, held in Lamezia Terme, but the tension is equally high, because they need to win a match at all costs in a difficult situation. In fact, Anna Paradisi (2.4) and Alessia Massimilla (2.6) are recovering from injuries and, while the first takes the field anyway, even if not in top form, the second, still recovering, is not deployed. The first singles is played and lost by Anna Paradisi against the Roman Giulia La Porta (2.6) with the result of 6-1 6-3. All hopes are placed on the young Beatrice Veltri (2.5), who has to face Maddalena Cibien (2.7). Veltri does not disappoint expectations and gives the point of promotion by winning with a clear 6-0 6-0. Finally, Giulia Mercuri (2.8) closes the day with a defeat that does not dent the celebration of R. Viola Tennis & Sports at all.
The enthusiasm, hope and determination of the young Lametine are encapsulated in the words of Beatrice Veltri: “There was a lot of tension and anxiety on our side because, even though the first leg ended 4/0 for us, the return match was difficult with Anna (Paradisi) and Alessia (Massimilla) injured and unavailable. All the weight fell on my match. Massimo Viola, our captain, decided to field Anna anyway to try to bring the first point, but unfortunately she was unable to hold the field well and lost. Just like Giulia Mercuri lost against Giordano 62 62. I brought the winning point, playing a match that was easier than I imagined, given that before starting I was a bit tense as I felt the weight of my match on my shoulders. We are satisfied, we had a good championship, but this is only the beginning. We are already charged up to do well next year in the higher category”.
