The Italian Army hosted, at the Army logistics base in Milano Marittima, the Romagna leg of the “Summer Beach Rugby 2024” on 22 and 23 June, strengthening the partnership with the Italian Rugby Federation.
The event, a unique opportunity to make young people and all citizens aware of the common values of both the Italian Army and the FIR, of discipline, loyalty, mutual support, teamwork and respect, saw the participation of athletes from all over Italy, ready to challenge each other in exciting beach rugby matches on the sand in an atmosphere of fair play and fun.
The event was also an opportunity to get to know the Italian Army and its activities closely, illustrating career opportunities within the Armed Forces to interested young people. In fact, over the weekend, citizens approached the world with the “stars”, thanks to the setting up of a promotional information stand and the possibility of trying their hand at climbing on an artificial rock wall, all to the rhythm of the music of Radio Army.
The stop at the Logistics Base was enriched by the spectacular airdrop from a helicopter by paratroopers from the Army’s Parachuting Sports Activities Department.
On the occasion of the Romagna stage of the Italian beach rugby trophy, as part of the “Vittoria for Women Tour” prevention project, in addition to attending beach rugby matches and taking part in entertainment activities, it was possible to support the fight against tumors women by doing prevention and booking a free breast examination.
