The protagonists of the III Viareggio Bastia Viareggio were awarded

With the splendid evening and the gala dinner organized along the CN Versilia quay, the curtain fell on the 2024 edition of the Viareggio-Bastia-Viareggio Angelo Moratti Trophy, a regatta which, organized by the Club Nautico Versilia with the Municipality of Viareggio and Navigo , under the aegis of the Fiv, the patronage of the Tuscany Region, the Municipalities of Viareggio and Bastia, the Navy and the Marevivo Association, the collaboration with UVAI and the support of the Port Authority of Viareggio, has brought sailing on the traditional route between the Versilia and Corsica, respecting the ecosystem of the stretch of sea involved.

During the final ceremony, in the presence of numerous civil and military authorities, the 2024 special awards were awarded and the protagonists of this edition were awarded supported by the Major Partners Next Yacht Group -Azimut Capital Management/Investimenti and AB Yachts Maiora- and Gruppo Frati, by the Public Main Partners Municipality of Viareggio, iCARE and Viareggio Porto 2020, by the Partners Axa Assicurazioni Agencies of Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi and Pisa, Cantieri Codecasa, Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca, Galliano, Vannucci Piante, by the Green Partner Corepla and by the technical partner Eurven.

After the greetings of the President of the CNV Roberto Brunetti, of the Councilor for Tourism and Economic Development of the Municipality of Viareggio Alessandro Meciani, of the Commander CP Viareggio CF Silvia Brini and of the President iCARE Moreno Pagnini, the vice president of the CNV Admiral Chief Inspector (Cp) Marco Brusco presented the special CNV award to Rosalba Giugniper the 39 years of Sea alive and for its commitment to the protection and safeguarding of the territory from its foundation to today“.

And it was Rosalba Giugni who in turn gave the Marevivo Special Prize, on the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Financial Police, to Lieutenant Colonel of the GdF Nicola Navarra, Commander of the Roan –AeroNaval Operations Department– from Livorno, “for the constant commitment to protecting and safeguarding the territory.”

Pius Zerbinati –Councilor of the CNV who has always played a fundamental role in the Organizing Committee since the times of the epic VBV– instead presented a plaque to Commander of the Port Authority of Viareggio CF Silvia Brini for the precious support given to the event while the Councilor for Sport Rodolfo Salemi the Municipality of Viareggio award to the marine biologist Silvio Nuti of the Mare Oltre Foundation for its commitment to promoting “an inclusive Sailing… for All within the scope of the ONDA project.”

The iCare president Pagnini, with the desire to promote female participation in sailing, awarded Barbara Pernar a member of the Arca Sgr crew “best-ranked boat with the most female crew on board” and Councilor Meciani with the Special Prize of the Municipality of Viareggio, Katia Balducci, in memory of her father Beppe who recently passed away. And finally, the CEO of Azimut Financial Insurance SpA Matteo D’Ettorre presented the “Azimut Investments for Innovation” prize to the President of Sanlorenzo Massimo Cerotti for “the continuous development of new technologies in the nautical world.”

After thanking the Authorities, the Institutions, the CONI, the FIV, the UVAI, the Race Committee, the partners and the staff who contributed to the success of the event, the Sports Director of the CNV Muzio Scacciati invited those present to watch together the evocative video summarizing the highlights of the event and the awards ceremony for the regatta began.

Twelve-year-old Anna Giurlani of Gianluca Giurlani’s Vismara V 50 Sport K9 was awarded by FIV Zone II President Andrea Leonardi as the youngest at VBV 24, the members of XP44 Orizzonte – owned by CNV member Paolo Bertazzoni – Giorgio Iacconi and Fabrizio Marianelli by the Commissioner for the Port Authority Alessandro Rosselli with the Double Handed Award, while Emanuele Poli presented the Axa Award to the 1st IRC Under 60′ Classified, the maxi 100′ ARCA SGR.

The GS 56′ Paolisssima of Luca Poli and Paola Poggi, 2nd place ORC, received the award from CONI Lucca President Stefano Pellacani while the ORC winner, lo Swan 45 Thetis on Luca Locatelliby the Scientific Director of the Robotics Festival Mauro Ferrari.

Lieutenant CS Tonino Assaiante with the crew of the GdF flagship Grifone III, third place IRC, were awarded by Andrea Palestini of the Banca del Monte di Lucca Foundation while Nicola Minardi and Angelomario Moratti with their Vismara Momi 80, second place IRC , were awarded by the President of the Jury Committee Riccardo Incerti Vecchi. A video message from Massimo Moratti was then shown. But the very welcome video greeting from the most successful president in the history of Inter was not the only pleasant surprise of the evening: the American composer actually took to the stage to reward Furio Benussi’s ARCA SGR 1st Place IRC David Bryan, keyboardist and co-founder of the group Bon Jovi.

And finally the sTrieste kipper Furio Benussi and his Fast and Furio Sailing Team (already holders of the two previous records) were awarded for the Regatta Record (12h 29’19”) with the Maxi 100′ Arca SGR (YCA Trieste) with the Straulino Trophy delivered by the Secretary of the Chamber of Deputies Hon. Riccardo Zucconi, and as real-time winners with the coveted “Angelo Moratti” Silver Trophy received by the President of the CNV Roberto Brunetti. In addition to the regatta, also followed thanks to www.sgstracking.com, and the final evening, the numerous collateral events organized during the four days of the event at the Villaggio Regate located in front of the Club Nautico Versilia were very successful, including the workshop “La Robotica Marina” organized by Navigo and the Festival della Robotica – during which the use of automation in extreme situations for people, remote diving, cleaning of the seabed and exploring new technologies for boats were explored -, the meeting on “Sustainable Finance” organized by Azimut Investimenti with the participation of Marevivo which aroused considerable interest in the issues on the combination of finance and sustainability, increasingly at the center of the agenda of all companies, and the interviews by Fabio Pozzo with Rosalba Giugni and the unmissable with Massimo Perotti who spoke about his career at the helm of a shipyard and the development of the nautical industry in terms of Innovation, Technology and Sustainability.

The evening ended by saying goodbye to the next edition which will take place from 25 to 28 June 2025 and with the request to all those present to extend a thought of sympathy on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Viareggio massacre, with the hope that responsibilities can be ascertained as soon as possible and justice can finally be done.
