The Operations Room of the Civil Protection of Lombardy has issued a yellow alert for risk of thunderstorms, hydrogeological risk and hydraulic risk.
Conditions of marked stability are expected in Lombardy on Friday 28 June. However, the occurrence of isolated showers or thunderstorms of weak intensity on the Alpine and pre-Alpine mountains in the early afternoon and early evening hours cannot be ruled out, with all precipitation running out in the evening.
For Saturday 29 June, precipitation of mostly moderate intensity is expected between late afternoon and evening, in particular in the western areas of Lombardy. In the North-Western sectors, storm phenomena are currently more likely, widespread and of greater intensity; there is a risk of hail, strong gusts of wind and light to moderate rainfall (between 10 and 40 mm/12h) or occasionally heavy rainfall (up to 50-70 mm/12h).
Even in the remaining sectors of the region, storm phenomena of weak or at most moderate intensity cannot be ruled out, but with a low or very low probability of strong phenomena. From late evening the phenomena will tend to shift towards the East and weaken. At the moment, the late evening involvement of the remaining lowland areas is difficult to predict, while the extension of light to moderate precipitation to all the alpine and pre-Alpine areas of the region until the early hours of Sunday 30 June is probable. There is a general intensification of the wind associated with thunderstorms, with gusts at times reaching up to 40-50 km/h even in lowland areas.
