ANCONA A Silicon Valley in every territory to push green and digital transitions. The proposal that starts from the Marche and aims to create innovative regional valleys is liked by Brussels and, after the unanimous approval of the European Committee of the Regions last February, it also receives that of the Commission, which assigns us the Regional Innovation Valley brand.

Path

The Expression of Interest launched in March last year by the European Commission – which has seen the participation of over 160 regions from 23 Member States – has the main objective of connecting innovation actors in European regions in order to foster greater cohesion and collaboration to address urgent societal challenges. The events organized in Ancona on February 22 and 23 by the Commission of the European Committee of the Regions contributed to supporting the candidacy of the Marche Region and the meeting attended by Governor Acquaroli together with Minister Urso and Undersecretaries Butti and Albano was an opportunity to fully address the issue of innovation based on the territory.

“Despite being a medium-sized and transitional territory – comments regional councilor Andrea Putzu, who as the Marche representative in the Committee brought home the result – has brought together universities, businesses, schools, the world of research and local authorities. By reasoning in a network and pooling the best energies and skills, ambitious results can be achieved”. The Regional Valleys of Innovation are ecosystems that promote innovation at a local and regional level and “the Marche has not only demonstrated its commitment to directing investments and policies to support research and innovation towards EU priorities, but has also documented its ability to coordinate with other regions. The awarding of the Regional Innovation Valley label is a recognition of these commitments”.

The Regional Innovation Valley aims to create new job opportunities, increase the competitiveness of businesses and improve the quality of life of citizens. With the Regional Valley of Innovation brand, the Marche will be able to draw on additional funding from the European Union allocated ad hoc through Horizon Europe calls, with a ceiling of 116 million euros.
