Four tremors in four minutes, epicenter at a depth of 3.2 km in the Dazio area, on the border between Pozzuoli and Bagnoli. Yesterday the earth shook again in the Phlegraean area, in particular from 3.10 pm to 3.14 pm with phenomena that developed in rapid sequence: the strongest was of magnitude 2.9 followed by three others of magnitude 2.7, 2.8 and 2.5 respectively.
Four intense minutes that scared residents especially in the areas near the epicenter who in many cases poured into the streets. No particular criticality was found, but under the early afternoon sun dozens poured onto the seafront “Sandro Pertini”.
The roar
“We heard some booms and the floor shook, it seemed like it would never end” says Nicola who lives in the Cappuccini area, on Via Napoli. The tremors were described as jolting and were part of a swarm that until yesterday evening had counted eleven events detected by the sensors of the Vesuvius Observatory, preceded during the night by a seismic event of magnitude 1.8 ± 0.3 located at 3.27 at a depth of 2.42 km in the Gulf of Pozzuoli.
No particular criticality but the attention remains high in the city, where the number of people evacuated following the strong swarm of May 20th has reached 1,700 units. In addition, there are those who once again call for the installation of tents such as the network of civic committees of which Potere al Popolo is a part because “the emergency is not over”.

«As inhabitants of Pozzuoli and the Phlegraean Fields we must take action and create a popular assembly on bradyseism and demand – they said in a note – dignified solutions for the displaced people, including requisitioning structures in the area; a stop to mortgages, rents and utilities for uninhabitable buildings; the verification and safety of public and private buildings at the expense of the State».
The mayor of Pozzuoli instead calls for calm Manzoni’s Teeth: «The situation is calm, yesterday there were no critical issues or reports to the civil protection and municipal police switchboards as instead happened in the past weeks. The installation of tents would be a return to the past that we have overcome with the expeditious descending plan never realized until now that provides for the setting up in cases of particular emergency of tents and support structures for the population at the Hub in via Artiaco and at the PalaTrincone in Monterusciello».
The emergency
Precisely to deal with the emergency, the approval of a resolution regarding the general adjustment maneuver and safeguard of budget balances is expected today in the city council, which will be adopted in advance of the natural deadline: it provides for additional allocations of 350 thousand euros for the measures to be adopted at the expense of the city budget in favor of evicted citizens and commercial activities, the allocation for the hiring of 40 administrative instructors, 4 technicians, an agronomist and 4 municipal police officers on mobility who will be added to those that are covered by the decree. Phlegraean Fields for the hiring of 25 units in the offices of the Civil Protection service.
Furthermore, among the planned interventions there is the completion of the digitalisation of administrative procedures, in particular those relating to bradyseism: In the event of an emergency, citizens will be able to know their position starting from the request for an inspection up to the possible eviction order and all the data relating to their property.
