Inaugurated on March 18, 2023, it was broken just over a year later. A piece was broken off and thrown away. Also on the bench was an abandoned plastic bottle. All around the dry grass of yet another area of the historic center of Viterbo in decay.

The purple bench was wanted by the Libellula libera association to raise awareness among people and institutions regarding the fibromyalgia. A disabling disease that affects over 2 and a half million people throughout Italy and more than 4 thousand in Tuscia.

To inaugurate the purple bench on 18 March 1923, together with the president of Libellula libera Francesco Piccerillo, there were also the mayor Chiara Frontini, the councilor for social policies Patrizia Notaristefano, the city councilor and delegate for the Francigena Alessandra Croci and the regional councilor Enrico Panunzi.
