We take up a correct, in our opinion, reflection of the new Mayor of Borgo San Lorenzo Leonardo Romagnoli from his Facebook profile, on the situation that Mugello commuters will find themselves facing in this summer which seems to be heated not only from a climatic point of view, according to the experts, but also from the point of view of travel to Florence. It will become a forbidden city and very difficult to reach. The reflection of the Mayor of Borgo falls like a bean with the hope that this will not remain a dead letter but that there will be an activation in trying to at least mitigate these inconveniences.

The ordeal of Mugello commuters

In recent weeks, after the announcement of RFI’s works on Faentina, it was said that the possibility of carrying out the works would be evaluated, at least in the via Vaglia section, at night or in any case in ways that would not jeopardize the transit of trains to and from for Florence.

With a statement in the newspapers, councilor Baccelli informs us that this will not be possible and therefore from 3 August to the beginning of September commuters and tourists will have to use an alternative bus service.

However, in the same period the Publiacqua works will take place in Via Bolognese in Florence, so those who have to go to Florence from Mugello by public transport will have to go via the motorway or via the 302 Faentina. The official press release talks about a delay of only 10 minutes which is absolutely unrealistic.

We remind you that two construction sites and a traffic light restriction are underway on the 302 Faentina.

The buses will pass from Borgo towards San Piero and then towards Faentina, they will skip the obstacle at Brocchi, but in Faltona they will find a lane restriction which causes severe slowdowns and the same goes for the construction site in the Olmo area.

The works by Publiacqua and RFI had been planned for some time, at least so they say, and so we ask ourselves why no work has been done in recent months to restore traffic on the 302 to make it a real alternative to the Bolognese?

Considering August as a lost month in which everyone is on holiday is profoundly wrong and we hope that we can continue to work in this month of July to find solutions to the travel difficulties of commuters and public transport users. Assuming you want it.
