S. MARINELLA – Piazzale Giacomo Matteotti, the area adjacent to the train station, is once again accessible to vehicles during certain hours of the day. In fact, an order has been issued, which establishes, in the square in front of the city train station, a traffic ban starting tomorrow, only from 5 to 7 pm, from Monday to Saturday. On Sunday, therefore, access will be permitted all day. “The measure to completely close the area – says the councilor for public works Andrea Amanati in a note – was established last August to make the operations and maneuvers of the vehicles of the companies involved in the construction sites for the renovation of the station necessary. Considering that the intervention in the area in front of the entrance to the passenger building is finished, we have been able to remodel the traffic flow. This new order prohibits access, only for a couple of hours in the late afternoon, allowing the many commuters and travelers to be accompanied to the entrance of the station, easing traffic especially in the busiest time slot. As a commuter, I can only be happy about this opening, while waiting to see the work definitively completed. It is understood that there is still a ban on stopping and parking in the entire area. Rete Ferroviaria Italiana informs us that work will soon begin on the internal road that runs alongside the Carabinieri barracks and the railway, as foreseen by the project”.

“We ask citizens to remain patient – says Mayor Tidei – RFI has assured us that the works are progressing according to the established times. They will soon place the shelter covers on the tracks, which the Superintendency wants to be transparent, not guaranteeing coverage from the sun’s rays in summer. Ferrovie is providing a solution that respects the required criteria”. In the ordinance, it is established that the emergency vehicles, the police forces, the soldiers of the Carabinieri Station, disabled people, local means of transport, the taxi service and residents who necessarily have to pass through to access their homes , of the vehicles used for loading and unloading goods of the present commercial establishment, can always pass through”.
