Taranto, Giove: “We will set up a team to do important things”

by Giampiero Laera

The press conference that Taranto organized to clarify the plans and strategies for the next Serie C season has just concluded. Speaking at the microphones of the Antenna Sud conference room were President Massimo Giove, coach Eziolino Capuano, vice-president Enzo Sapia and the head of the Youth Sector Pietro Armenise.

Below are the words of President Massimo Giove

CAPUANO’S RENEWAL – In the season just ended we did something beautiful and important. In this month all sorts of things have been said about me and coach Capuano, I can assure you that nothing happened between me and him. Our friendship has remained the same and Capuano will still be the leader of Taranto for the next season.

THE MARKET – We will set up a team to do important things, some of our pillars will leave, but we are already working to replace them with people worthy of the Taranto shirt.

THE STADIUM QUESTION – As soon as I spoke with Capuano for the first time after the end of the season, the first question he asked me was about the stadium. Today I can say that Taranto will play at the Iacovone next year, since we have reached all the necessary agreements with the competent bodies.

TARANTO’S PROJECTS – We have a coach who has very specific football ideas and I believe that this year too we will be able to compete for the top positions in the standings. The level of the championship has risen, there are clubs that are spending a lot of money to set up their squad, and we will try to do what we can with the resources we have.

LAST SEASON – The biggest regret of last season is the fire at the stadium after the match against Foggia, which in my opinion affected our path for the whole season. I am convinced that if we had played the matches played away from the Iacovone in our stadium, we would have finished the season in a higher position. I can also say out loud that we suffered an injustice with the penalty received with the championship almost over, our fans in Vicenza suffered massive violence and we were seen as those who were guilty. These things do not sit well with me at all, next season I will change my attitude and make my voice heard, against this persecution against Taranto, which is absolutely not okay. Taranto is probably annoying the higher-ups and I will go in person to the competent offices to verify the reasons for what happened.
