A new attempt to find family doctors and fill the chronic shortage of gowns in the Lombard provinces is underway in Lombardy.
After the disappointing outcome of the previous regional call for applications, which led to the assignment of 10 positions in the Brescia area (against a gap of 164 white coats), the Lombardy Region has published a new competition, with application deadline July 16, to fill 1,349 positions.
Looking at the territory of Brescia and its province, 155 family doctors are missing: in detail 10 for the Asst Franciacorta, 43 for the Asst Spedali Civili, 57 for the Asst Garda and 15 for the Asst Valcamonica. It is hoped that the new call for service can lead to an optimal coverage of the vacant positions, but the concern that – given the previous poor results – the problem of the shortage of doctors will not be resolved remains.
