A patrol of the Parma Oltretorrente Carabinieri noticed him walking on Via Volturno at one in the morning. Upon seeing the company car, the 29-year-old fled in the direction of Via Abbeveratoia, where after a short but intense chase he was stopped. Accompanied to the barracks and subjected to photo identification, he was found wanted for attempted murder and robbery committed at the end of May 2024 in Bergamo, to the detriment of a compatriot. The facts: on the night of the 24th, a carabinieri patrol from the Parma Oltretorrente station, engaged in a territorial control service, at around one in the morning, passing through via Volturno, noticed a foreign man walking on foot in the direction of via Abbeveratoia carrying a large black bag on his shoulders.
The man, at the sight of the car with the institute colours, without thinking twice, dropped the bag and started running. A wild race between parked cars, in an attempt to escape, with the police who, after cutting him off, blocked him. The military immediately understood that the man had something to hide, but both the search of the recovered bag and the personal search had given negative results, an anomalous circumstance in light of the man’s behavior, and which did not explain the sudden escape of the man. ‘man.
The man, pressed by specific questions about his identity and possession of documents, responded in monosyllables and stated that he did not have them and added nothing about his personal details. At this point the patrol accompanied the 29-year-old to the barracks to proceed with identification operations using photo identification and fingerprint acquisition. The system, having analyzed the fingerprints, provided the identity of the man, a 29-year-old foreigner, with several police records and on whom a precautionary custody order in prison for attempted murder and aggravated robbery issued by the investigating judge was pending. At this point, the check that began on the street turned into a real investigative activity, in search of evidence regarding the man’s identity, given that the database contained several names associated with the same person. Once the restrictive measure was acquired, the Carabinieri became aware of the facts alleged against the 29-year-old by the Bergamo AG. The facts date back to the end of May 2024, when it is believed that the arrested man attempted to steal a backpack containing 50 euros, a pack of cigarettes and a few other objects of little value from a fellow countryman, repeatedly hitting him in the neck with a shard of bottle, which caused him heavy bleeding which risked killing him. Only the help given to him by some of those present prevented the tragedy. Before the intervention of the police and emergency services, the attacker had moved away from the scene and had disappeared without a trace.
Actively wanted in the Bergamo area as he was believed to be responsible for the attempted murder and aggravated robbery, in his aimless wandering he reached Parma, where he was noticed in a suspicious attitude by the Carabinieri of the Parma Oltretorrente station and arrested at the end of the investigations.
The 29-year-old, arrested, was associated with the Parma prison at the disposal of the competent AG.
