The dredger will not arrive at the end of June to complete the cleaning of the Ventena canal port in the tourist area north of Cattolica. The trade associations met in recent days with the Nautical Club and the municipal administration to avoid this possibility and the competent authorities accepted the request. The completion of this dredging, the responsibility of the Nautical Club, had not yet been done in late June but at this moment it no longer seemed appropriate given that the Ventena canal port is in the middle of a tourist area, next to bathing establishments and the Cattolica Aquarium. We’ll talk about it again after the summer.
“Peace for boaters or for those asking for dredging – begins Massimo Cavalieri, president of the hoteliers’ association – I believe that in a rather serene climate the best decision was made for everyone. It was certainly not the case to dredge the canal harbor at the end of June , in the height of the summer season with the consequences for bathing and anything else that could arise. The dredging can then be finished calmly after the summer and by February 2025, as foreseen by the authorizations held by the Nautical Club”.
The failure to complete the dredging had also sparked controversy in Palazzo Mancini with the councilor of the League, Marco Cecchini, who had attacked the municipal administration while the Circolo Nautico, through its president Daniele Verni, had reiterated: “The Circolo Nautico intends to proceed with the dredging of the Ventena but some things need to be clarified: the authorization arrived at the end of March and is valid until February 2025 to operate outside the bathing period. However, the company carrying out the dredging became available only in mid-May And in that period the water quality sampling and the start of bathing made it possible to work for less than two days, carrying out only a short intervention, which was only the one paid for by the Municipality further authorizations and we have requested the availability of the executing company”.
But therefore for technical-bureaucratic reasons it took a long time, in fact late June, and now for lifeguards and hoteliers it was just not the right time to proceed. The intervention will therefore be carried out, but from September onwards, with authorizations valid until February 2025.
