In 1400 Viesca came under the control of Florence, the land was divided and divided until, at the end of 1700, ownership passed from the family Medici-Tornaquinci to the Martelli one. In 1879 it is the Marchesa Nerli to become its owner, making it an “agricultural school” under the influence and closeness of Don Bosco. Subsequently the estate passed from owner to owner, until in 1952 it was purchased by Salvatore and Wanda Ferragamo.

Viesca Tuscany, anecdotes, photos and curiosities in a book

The book Viesca Tuscanypresented by the Ferragamo family, celebrates this fantastic estate that has become a place of welcome and hospitality characterized by luxury and elegance.

The volume tells the story in three illustrated chapters, full of anecdotes and intimate memories, the deep bond that unites the Ferragamo family to this enchanting estate.

The first chapter, an oasis in the Valdarno

The first chapter tells the story of the estate dating back to Renaissance period, when the noble Tuscan families competed for fortresses and castles outside the city to transform them into their elegant summer homes. After the Guidis, the Acciaiolis, the Orsis and the Grifoli Arrighis and then the Marchesa Enrichetta Nerli Michelagnoli, it was Salvatore and Wanda, in 1952, who fell in love with this oasis in the Valdarno“where you can dedicate yourself to agriculture and raise children in the beauty of Tuscan nature”.

This is how Viesca became the scene of many beautiful memories for his children and grandchildren: the grape harvest in September, the harvesting of olives, wheat and chestnuts, in contact with nature and with the farmers who still lived in the farmhouses of the property.

The second chapter, a place of hospitality among private villas, cottages and suites
