Benevento’s first friendly in the Roman retreat is a pleasant surprise. At first it was thought to organize it with a local amateur selection, but finding a group of amateur footballers in the capital in the first fortnight of July often becomes a problem. And so it was decided to invite a Samnite team, which had more than one Giallorossi fan within it and which was honored to meet the most important team in the province in a friendly match. Thus was born the Strega’s first friendly match of the season against the Football Club San Giorgio del Sannio, newly promoted to the first category championship. President Gerardo Campana’s team is coached by an old acquaintance of Samnite amateur football, Pasquale Ferraro. An experienced and highly capable technician, the protagonist of a historic victory a few years ago with the Ferrini Juniores team which took him to the national finals, then always on prestigious benches, from Cervinara to Montesarchio, up to Albanova.
For San Giorgio, who will begin their preparations at the end of August, it is about opening a gap in the summer holidays with this suggestive friendly at the Mancini Park Hotel in Rome. “Benevento’s was a call that honors us and makes us proud”, said Pasquale Ferraro, who will gather the group that will compete in the First Category championship and will lead them in this prestigious Roman friendly. San Giorgio will leave on Sunday 21 July in the morning for the capital, to then face Benevento at 5:45 pm on the Mancini’s number one pitch. Ferraro’s team will remain guests of the Giallorossi club for dinner and then leave again for San Giorgio.
