“Saint Anthony, patron saint of Piacenza, as a current and reference figure for his testimony of Christian faith, because he manages to transmit significant values even today: loyalty, courage, knowing how to take a stand, and even giving one’s life, always For the sake of all. I believe that all this is also important for our city.”
It is with these words that Don Giuseppe Basini, parish priest of the basilica dedicated to the patron saint, introduced the presentation of the 4th of July celebrations dedicated precisely to Saint Anthony.
THE EVENTS CALENDAR
A rich calendar which, in addition to religious rites, will offer cultural and musical events a vast space of time. It begins on Wednesday 26 June, with the presentation of Pope Francis’ first autobiography; an important moment will be on Saturday 29th, with Puccini’s opera Suor Angelica in the cloisters of the basilica dedicated to the Saint.
From opera to dialect singing, with the inevitable Piacenza nel Cuore by Marilena Massarini, nIn the rich program of the days of celebrations there will also be a show on Caravaggio, two concerts, an exhibition, a dialogue on hope with the bishop of Pinerolo, as well as religious celebrations and the inevitable stalls.
