The organizers denounce “a very serious episode of crime and violence”. And they explain: “A group of men, with their faces covered and armed with pistols and rifles, stormed the entrance, beat a collaborator and robbed a collaborator, stealing the cash box containing part of the proceeds. We are still deeply shaken. We immediately reported the incident to the police, which, however, irremediably marks the darkest moment of ten years of projects and sacrifices. Earthbeat is our dream, Earthbeat is our home, but we can no longer defend it alone. Because anyone who threatens the stability of a cultural project, to intimidate its volunteers and deprive it of the resources to survive, threatens the entire territory and its community“.
The news quickly spread to the social , generating indignation and also a wave of solidarity. Indignation and anger at the violence committed at a party of kids who just want to have fun, being together, listening to music and dancing. At the same time there are also many expressions of closeness, with the invitation to continue the artistic-musical project which, among other things, allows many young people to express their music and make themselves known. And, another important aspect, it allows many young people to stay for a few evenings in Altamura, avoiding going to more distant places.
