Some of the initiatives planned as part of the will start next week Plan of the Night and in synergy with Bologna Estate to make the university area and its surroundings more livable and safe in the summer months: between news and welcome confirmations, the city offers a range of opportunities accessible to everyone; an offer capable of intercepting different targets and focusing on culture, conviviality and the pleasure of being together as a response to the desire to fully and safely experience urban spaces.

Via Zamboni and surroundings

On the lawn of Piazza Rossini, after the successful event during the days of the Bologna Portici Festival, it starts on Wednesday 26 June Zentrum, a new summer proposal designed for very young people which will liven up the evenings from Wednesday to Saturday from 6pm and Sunday from 4pm, with music in compliance with the acoustic regulations, proposed by the resident DJs of the Kindergarten, organizer of the event. Also scheduled is a series of talks and insights dedicated to the world of entertainment and live events, to discover particularities, skills and anecdotes of the many professions that animate the world of clubs. DJs, creators of successful formats, managers and talent scouts, bartenders, sound engineers and lighting directors will be the protagonists of interviews curated by Edoardo D’Elia and Giacomo Venezia, creators of the successful podcast Snack who will take us ‘behind the scenes’, trying to highlight the fascinating and artistic part of these professions, the great work being done on the issues of inclusion and rights – especially for the LGBTQIA+ world – but also analyzing the difficulties of the sector. Among the scheduled events, the interview with DJ Milé on his project to teach playing to the little ones (Saturday 29 June) and the subsequent DJ set with experimental music and the interview with BoyRebecca (6 July) for the Veleno e its social mission in favor of the shelter for trans people Casa Lucy Salani. Not a ‘disco’ therefore, but quality music at the right volume, chatter and debates, with seats and tables in a convivial and relaxed dimension that makes the Square a safe place where any girl can feel ‘safe’ even during the evening. On Fridays and Saturdays, for night owls the evening can continue in the clubs outside the centre, reachable thanks to the 8 night bus lines, such as the N2 which also passes by the historic club in via Calzoni.

A new jazz & blues festival will start on July 2nd in Piazzetta Ardigò: twenty live evenings on Tuesdays and Thursdays at dinner time with the participation of ensembles of musicians from the GB Martini Conservatory of Bologna. Montagnola and Piazza Aldrovandi: experimenting with new uses

A great novelty concerns the Montagnola park, where the exhibitions are already successfully active Montagnola Republic And Frida in the Parkwhich will continue until the end of summer: starting from June 27th we will experience theopen 24 hours a day gates, as already happens in other city parks, and also public toilets. This initiative sees an important collaboration between the Administration and the managers of the area. The proposals for the summer evenings are free and accessible to everyone, respecting the environment and nature, in a program that sees the combination of different artistic forms, with music acting as the common thread of the entire program. It also started in the Park from 11 June Open mound, a rich calendar of workshops, walks, environmental education initiatives and gaming activities proposed by the Rusconi Ghigi Urban Innovation Foundation in collaboration with the associations already active in the area with a rich cultural and social programming that will involve the whole summer children, girls, families and adults interested in discovering many curiosities related to the park; every Tuesday in June, July and August at 5.30pm to experience the park also as a place of learning through play.

Experimental it is too Let’s Dance!, a new format that will bring a traveling dance floor to Piazza Aldrovandi for four weeks: on Thursday, Friday and Saturday starting from 27 June, from 7.30pm to 11.30pm, open dance lessons organized by some local schools and musical selections of various genres. The new city dance floor will debut with the historic Gabusi dance school offering group dances on Thursday 27th and Filuzzi on Friday 28th, up to the 80s disco with three legendary Bolognese DJs between 18 and 20 July.

The initiatives are part of Night plan of the city of Bologna and are included in the billboard of Bologna Summer. For the occasion the university area will see the presence of street host, a new figure that the Night Plan is experimenting with as a night guard and whose presence will be expanded in the coming years thanks to dedicated PON funding, which will see the involvement of a large number of city entities through the tool of co-planning. The street hosts monitor and welcome the flows of night-goers, raising awareness of respect for the environment and the context: on summer nights between Montagnola and the university area they will be present from Thursday to Saturday ten street educators from the La Carovana cooperative trained in proximity work who also carry out the night-time pedestrian bus service to facilitate safe return and provide information on means of transport and the cultural offer in the city. Ten also on the pitch operators of the 0waste association dedicated to reducing environmental impact of nightlife; among their activities is the reduction of the use of glass thanks to the distribution of recyclable glasses. Finally, in Montagnola, four operators are expected to be present every night.Universe association, which has been dealing with inclusion and intercultural dialogue in Bologna for more than 20 years. The presence of street tutors who will carry out risk prevention and conflict mediation activities, in collaboration with the police forces, will also be intensified throughout the area affected by the activities.

The Night Plan is a new way of seeing the city 24 hours a day, started with investigations and observation of flows, requests for services and opportunities and then experimenting with new ways to make Bologna more inclusive, accessible and safe even in nightlife. Much has already been started in recent months, from night bus lines to the expansion of bike sharing hubs to street host services, up to the accompaniment on foot in groups or on call for those who want to reach the stops safely. Those starting now are further actions as part of a process of constant listening and broad collaboration between the various areas of the Administration, cultural operators, law enforcement agencies, economic categories and citizens with the common objective of improve urban quality in the belief that a space lived in, traversed and loved by people is a powerful weapon against degradation, neglect and petty crime. The policies of the Night Plan are also built thanks to the impulse of the Advisory Commission for the night of Bologna: a structured place of discussion with a representation of citizens, citizens and city users to reconcile the needs of stakeholders on the issues relating to the night.
