“Summer blooms” in the city, between “Breaths of beauty” and “Siena, the enchantment over the centuries”
“Summer Blooms – the theater goes out into the street” is underway, the summer season of the Siena Theaters curated by the artistic director Vincenzo Bocciarelli. First appointment on Friday 21 June in Piazza Provenzano. Starting at 8.45pm, a traveling performance by the Sienese Choral Union “Ettore Bastianini” together with some very young dancers from the Liceo Galileo Galilei, will lead the public from Piazza Salimbeni to Piazza Provenzano, where the artistic director Vincenzo Bocciarelli will officially open the season. Next appointment of the event on Sunday 23 June at 9.15pm, Cortile del Podestà, with the traveling show “Teatro à porter” organized by the cultural association Topi Dalmata. Radicondoli, the traditional Feast of San Giovanni returns
The traditional Feast of San Giovanni returns. Starting tomorrow 21 June, many initiatives and opportunities to taste local products. As well as June 22nd and 23rd. Friday 21 June starts at 7pm, the party opens with an aperitif based on zonzelle, potato flakes and gourmet sandwich. At 9pm, DJ Mark. Saturday 22 June, at 4pm, local products and crafts market, at 4.30pm, children’s workshop with teacher Clara, reservations required at the tourist office on 0577 790800. At 5pm, Bandidas, and at 7.30pm, barbecue and appetizers. At 9.30pm, opera in octave rhyme “Pipone and the donkey”. Followed by “The Battle of Vetrialla” at the Teatro dei Risorti. At 10pm, live concert by Radio Lausberg. On Sunday 23rd the feast of San Giovanni continues. At 4pm, market of local products and crafts, at 4.30pm, Children’s workshop with Elena (booking required at the tourist office on 0577 790800), at 5pm, Filarmonica Becucci in the streets of the town, at 7.30pm, barbecue and appetizers, at 9pm, a repeat of the opera in eighth rhyme “Pipone and the donkey” followed by “The battle of Vetrialla” at the Teatro dei Risorti. At 9.30pm, “Fire show with Roby Circus” and at 10.30pm: preparation of the Acqua di San Giovanni. The invitation to everyone is that everyone brings St. John’s herbs with them in a container. The St. John’s Fire is unmissable: at the end of the celebration, as per tradition, everyone is invited around the bonfire to entrust intentions and wishes to the fire to be fulfilled. Music and painting in the art gallery. The timeless notes of Sienese masterpieces, special guided tour
On Friday 21 June, on the occasion of the 30th edition of the Music Festival, a special thematic guided tour in the Pinacoteca of Siena will allow you to immerse yourself in the art and history of music. Ancient instruments and timeless notes will be the common thread through which to admire the museum’s masterpieces in a new and surprising way, starting from extraordinary paintings where painting and music dialogue with each other, such as the Polyptych of the Assumption with Madonna Assunta with musician angels, Saints and donor of Sano di Pietro. Memory walk in Vicobello
The tenth edition of the Memory Walk in Vicobello will take place tomorrow afternoon which, together with the ANPI of Siena, the Historical Institute of the Sienese Resistance and the Contemporary Age, and numerous associations, we are organizing to remember 3 July 1944 which marked the liberation of Siena from Nazi-fascism and the three young men who fell on the city hill: Piero Cristofani, Giorgio Domenichini and Umberto Grazzini. It starts at 5pm in Piazza della Constitution in San Miniato and then begins the walk of memory which from the center of the neighborhood (passing through the Calamandrei promenade, via Ugo La Malfa and via di Vicobello) will reach the memorial stone commemorating the fallen young Sienese on 3 July 1944 on the Vicobello hill while chasing the Nazi troops fleeing towards Chianti. The walk will be accompanied by musical memories by the STUKA musical group. At 6.30 pm the walk will reach the memorial stone where greetings from the authorities and associations will be brought and where there will be a musical tribute from the “Banda Città del Palio”. Participants will then be able to return to Constitution Square where the memories will continue at the Third Age Center with re-enactments, poems and songs followed by a snack organized for the occasion. After the snack/dinner at 9pm in the hall of the parish of San Miniato ( piazza Togliatti) an unreleased film will be shown on the entry of the Allies into Siena on 3 July 1944. Following and at the end of the evening there will be the theater show “80 memoria. Stories of Sienese women between fascism and liberation” With Gaia Del Vecchio, Letizia Gattarelli, Vera Castellini. Directed by Francesco Burroni. All free entry.
“Piazze d’Armi e di città”: urban dance events begin with Ballo Pubblico 2024
From Thursday 20 June, in Poggibonsi, as part of the Piazze d’Armi e di città – Discipline(s) Festival, the XIV edition of the public dance festival, BP24, the event curated by the Adarte company for the direction, comes alive artistic work by Francesca Lettieri.
