Province of Grosseto: the Ricrea and CasTour projects on the Interreg program have been admitted for financing

(AGENPARL) – Sat 15 June 2024 *Province of Grosseto *
*Press release of June 15, 2024*
*Province of Grosseto: the Ricrea and CasTour projects are eligible for funding
on the Interreg program*
The two projects admitted to financing are called Ricrea and CasTour
within the Interreg programme, presented by the Province of Grosseto.
The first concerns the water improvement of Diaccia Botrona and the
creation of a marked path within the reserve
natural and the second the valorization of the chestnut paths of
Monte Amiata and the Metalliferous Hills.
At the end of May the launch event of the Interreg projects was held with the
province of Lucca leader and the first week of October is expected
the steering committee meeting in Grosseto with all the partners.
“Interreg projects represent a great growth opportunity for
the territory – *states the president of the Province of Grosseto,
Francesco Limatola* – both from the point of view of comparison and exchange
of good practices in the cross-border space, both for implementation
of interventions that go in the direction of sustainable development and
of adaptation to climate change, according to the new challenges posed
from the 2030 agenda and the 2021-2027 cohesion policy. The Province of
Grosseto has put its design skills to good use
obtaining financing of 150 thousand euros for the Ricrea project it concerns
the Diaccia Botrona and 30 thousand euros on the CasTour project which concerns the
valorisation of one of the typical products of the area, the chestnut.”
Going into detail, the *Ricrea project* aims to encourage
greater circulation of fresh water in the Diaccia Botrona since
that the Padule faces crisis situations in summer related to
drought, with significant increases in salinity and the creation of zones
anoxic that threaten the habitat. For these reasons it is important
constantly ensure a change of both fresh and salt water. The
project also includes GPS mapping of routes to improve
the experience of visiting Diaccia Botrona.
*The CasTour* project concerns the valorisation of the routes of the
chestnut of Monte Amiata PGI and of the Castagneti di Sasso itinerary
Forte and the Castagneto Route with restoration and maintenance of
damaged sections, but also *investments in signage* of
educational trails of the Via della Castagna and the Via delle Fonti della
House Museum of Monticello Amiata. Furthermore, interventions will be carried out
plant protection measures to *defense the monumental chestnut trees *present along
these paths, the cutting of unsafe plants, the cleaning of
bottom of the paths where necessary, the construction of fences and the
marking of trees and natural elements to allow visitors to
have reference points along the path.
