The mechanism
The mechanism of the scam was always the same, rather complex. At the beginning, the leasing company selected for the scam was offered the purchase of a machinery that didn’t actually exist and which was sold to be rented to other parties usually found by the same supplier of that good. A rental contract was stipulated between the leasing company and the leasing company. The supplier of that good sent all the technical and transport documentation. Then nothing more. And the scammers lost their tracks.
The accusations
The charges are for the crimes of criminal association, accused of five of the 30 suspects held responsible for having set up the criminal group. Five leasing companies were damaged, in the provinces of Milan, Venice, Siena and Bologna. Everyone is challenged fraudaggravated by the abuse of work: in the scam the criminals organized false tests and proposed fictitious images of the goods.
The episodes
There are 18 disputed incidents, linked to the sale of power generators sold for money between 40 and 80 thousand euros. Damage to the companies for a total of one million euros. Among the goods sold were also forklifts, cutters and bagging machines. 10 administrators of the four companies in the Treviso area were also charged violations of tax legislation: failure to declare, issue and use invoices for non-existent transactions amounting to 3.5 million euros and for evaded VAT of 1.5 million euros.
