The Municipality of Caserta and the Order of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts of Caserta have signed a memorandum of understanding to protect individuals and families who find themselves in situations of over-indebtedness.

The main objective of the agreement is to provide support to citizens who find themselves in situations of excessive debt, while preserving their personal dignity. Furthermore, the agreement aims to raise awareness among the population, professionals and entrepreneurs of the new opportunities offered by the new rules, in order to combat the economic crisis and encourage the recovery of consumers and businesses in difficulty.

Another important aspect of the agreement is the promotion of financial education in schools, with the aim of preventing situations of over-indebtedness in the future.

The memorandum of understanding will allow citizens (consumers, unemployed, professionals and non-fallible entrepreneurs) to access the procedures to resolve the problem of over-indebtedness using the “OCC – ODCEC Caserta”, a crisis resolution body that offers a free service to collect the necessary documentation to start the process.

In accordance with the directives of the protocol, the Municipality undertakes to effectively spread the initiative throughout the municipal territory through its communication channels. A link will be created on the official web page of the Municipality which will direct users to a section dedicated to financial education and to the body dealing with the over-indebtedness crisis. Furthermore, the municipal administration will collaborate closely with the Order of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts of Caserta to organize training and information events on the topic. In parallel, both entities will organize educational programs on finances in schools. The Order will also provide ongoing support to those who find themselves in a difficult economic situation caused by over-indebtedness.

“For us – explained the Mayor of Caserta, Carlo Marino – the memorandum of understanding is of great importance, especially from a social point of view, intervening to protect the weakest sections of the population, those who face a serious problem such as over-indebtedness. This phenomenon, in reality, concerns everyone, even many professionals. The Municipality is now committed to publicizing this agreement and supporting the Order in organizing information and training events aimed at citizens. As an Administration we care about the issue of protecting people with fragility, the weakest, through initiatives like this, which are of fundamental importance. Our goal, with this collaboration, is to make available a useful tool to give citizens an answer, to solve a problem and to overcome serious suffering.”

“As professionals – added the President of the Order of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts of Caserta, Pietro Raucci – Let’s try to lend a hand to those who need it. We aimed at collaboration with the Municipalities and with Caritas, which are the places where people in difficulty go and, naturally, also those who are struggling with problems of over-indebtedness. With the Municipality this is an important synergy, which brings together a public body and a professional association, which carry out these non-profit activities, in the exclusive interest of citizens who are experiencing a critical moment”.
