‘In the sea of Gaza’, the show-testimony of the Torriani students

CREMONA – Current events, the unknown of war, the horror of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the bombings of Gaza are part of our daily life. The risk is that the images broadcast on TV make us almost addicted to the horror and unconsciously predisposed to consider everything normal and above all distant from us. This is not the case and the Torriani students bore witness to this with the show, In the sea of Gaza.

The protagonists were the children of the 1D computer science and 1A chemistry classes, in a show that is the result of the theater workshop organized by Giovanna Mosconi And Claudia Scaravonati.

The intensity of the kids, the documents used in the dramaturgy, the authentic strength of the teenagers’ being on stage immediately created empathy not only with their peers. Children of all ethnic groups, a physical dramaturgy made of hugs and simple gestures demonstrated a powerful expressive force and an at times touching authenticity.

Theater as a tool for reflection on reality knows how to hit the mark, knows how to combine word and body, reason and emotion in the name of an involvement that cancels distances and asks us not to be indifferent.

In times of war, theater can be an ethical and peace instrument and the children were able to become witnesses of this, vibrant and true bodies. The emotion comes even if you want to hold it back and in this emotional movement there is the strength of a unique and important experience: the theater that transforms those who do it.
