Good morning and welcome to the LIVE STREAM of the first day of the European Junior Championships in Vilnius (Lithuania). In the swimming pool of the sports center ‘Lazdynai’, a day-1 in which only three titles will be awarded and in which emotions will not be lacking. Italy arrives in Vilnius with a large teamcomposed of 44 elements among which three very young swimmers already qualified for the next Games in Paris stand out: the youngest athlete to debut at the Olympics Carlos D’Ambrosio (2007), Sara Curtis (2006) and Alessandro Ragaini (2006). France, England, Spain, Germany and Hungary seem to have taken a step forward important in terms of quality compared to last year and therefore great quality will be needed to repeat the extraordinary results of the last edition for Italy.
We start with the batteries of the Women’s 200 Freestyle with Lucrezia Domina, Bianca Nannucci, Chiara Sama and Ludovica Terlizzi. Followed by the Men’s 200 Freestyle with Filippo Bertoni, Carlos D’Ambrosio, Alessandro Ragaini and Gabriele Valente. In the women’s 400 medley (finals this afternoon) Giada Alzetta and Giulia Pascareanu will be at the start for Italy. Sara Curtis is warming up her engines in 50 dorso where she can do well. Greta Rossi, Benedetta Boscaro and Giada Del Medico are registered with her. In 50 men’s backstroke Davide Lazzari, Daniele Del Signore and Matteo Venini are on their way.
Italy lines up in the Women’s 50 Breaststroke Irene Mati, Lisa Lucchesi, Giorgia Crepaldi and Martina Fanunza, while in the Men’s 50 Breaststroke the two Italians competing are Andrea Dondoli and Lorenzo Fuschini. Men’s 200 butterfly Leonardo Perciballi, Jacopo Barbotti, Emanuele Potenza and Matteo Venini are on the way. In the 1500 donne Emma Vittoria Giannelli will be hunting for a place in the final. The men’s 4×100 Passafaro, Ragaini, Chiaversoli, Valente, Ballarati, D’Ambrosio will be involved between the morning and afternoon, while in the women’s 4×100 Gusperti, Curtis, Santambrogio, Sama, Quaggio, Stevanato will be in the pool
