It’s final! A fantastic Smartsystem enters the promotion play-off final after overcoming a never-tamed Belluno by 3 to 1. In a packed and charged Palas Allende the Virtussini played the match of their lives, crushing at a distance the resistance of the Venetians who, initially, had managed to tactically restrain the hosts.
Good start for Fano in the first set (9-6, 14-10), Belluno is not demoralized and slowly recovers until 24-24: Galdenzi and an ace from Roberti close the fraction. The Venetians prove they are there and with Schiro on serve they break at the beginning of the second set (1-5) with Fano unable to react, despite managing to recover a few points in the end. At this point the Merlo – Roberti duo takes center stage: their serves overcome the resistance of the opponent’s reception and in the third quarter Smartsystem flies 11-6 and 16-10. The guests are within two (22-20) but can’t deal with a super Merlo who scores the decisive points. Once again it is the service that is decisive at the beginning of the fourth set: Dimitrov and Merlo, together with Roberti’s attacks, bring Fano to 8 to 2. Bisi shakes his team (13-16), but the end is all about Samrtsystem with the stoic Roberti closing the match.
