Starting this morning, at 11, in the Piazza Marinai D’Italia Of Taranto – Roundabout of the Lungomare Vittorio Emanuele III – the joint oath of Marina Military and Carabinieri: in a joint ceremony, 164 students of the 26th “Normal Marshals Course of the NCO School” of Taranto and 269 students of the 142nd “Course of the Carabinieri Student School of Taranto” swear loyalty to the Republic in front of the Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto. It is not the first event of its kind that Taranto hosts but, probably, this year it takes on a particular connotation. The current context and the precarious international balance mean that the role of the Armed Forces takes on ever more importance. An extendable concept for the same city which for decades has been closely linked to the Navy in particular.
Crosetto’s words
The Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, was also present. «I was struck by what happened in recent days to Marshal Francesco Pastore and Carabiniere Francesco Ferraro, but the thing that struck me was the father, the father’s words, the pride with which he remembered his son’s choice to be a policeman like him. Here, those words, that way of conceiving the service, treasure them, it is worth an entire course of studies because the truth is found in some books but it is found, very often, in the words of simple people who are those who with their simplicity, without frills, teach us reality and values.”
