Sometimes they return, the popular saying goes. And it couldn’t be otherwise, given his famous career. Piaggio couldn’t keep one of the most popular scooters on the Italian and European market on the bench for much longer, it would have been a real commercial suicide.
In addition to lending its side to its arch-enemy the Japanese, the bestseller Honda SH. The return of the two-wheeler of the famous Italian company marks a dividing line between past and future for the brand.
The historic motorcycle company from Sestri Ponente, founded way back in 1884, has always been a world leader in two-wheeled vehicles. Obviously the most famous of all scooters will forever remain the famous Vespa, so much so that today it has its own brand and channel.
But the property always remains the star: Piaggio. Security in terms of reliability, construction quality and typically Italian design. All qualities acquired over time that have transformed him into a globally known brand.
The Piaggio Beverly 300 S is back
At Honda they are already trembling at the announcement of return of the Piaggio Beverly 300 S, a direct competitor to their iconic SH of the same displacement. At first glance the new Beverly recalls the previous version, following its style and shapes.
We are talking about a medium-sized scooter, with a 16-inch diameter front rim and a 14-inch rear rim. However, its favorite habitat remains the city environment, although it does not disdain some trips out of town on ring roads or state roads.
Having it in your hands, you immediately understand that it is a high quality premium product and you can see this from the quality of the materials chosen and the standard equipment.
In fact, in addition to the usual minimally invasive ABS, we find traction control, keyless ignition, a USB port and a 5.5-inch LCD screen connected to your smartphone through the Piaggio MIA app. Not included in starting price of 5,699 euros the windshield, but available in various sizes with prices starting from 159 euros.
The chassis is truly high quality, thanks to an excellent combination of frame, shock absorbers and engine. The latter is a 278 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder capable of offering a maximum power of 26 HP and a maximum speed of 126 km/h. Excellent habitability thanks to a wide and high saddle from the ground.
The only flaw we can find on the excellent Beverly is probably the under-seat compartment, whose cockpit is large enough to accommodate just a helmet and little more, due to its irregular shape.
