A train hit and killed a 22-year-old girl. The dramatic accident occurred on Saturday evening, at 7:15 p.m., at the Varedo station (Monza Brianza), between platforms 1 and 2.
There was nothing that could be done for the young woman, and she died instantly, as reported by the Regional Emergency Agency (Areu), which arrived at the station with an ambulance and a medical car, in red code. In addition to the medical personnel, the firefighters and the Carabinieri of the Desio company intervened.
The accident, the dynamics of which are being investigated, involved train 1670, departing from Erba station and headed to Milan Cadorna. Among the hypotheses, there is also that of a voluntary act. To allow for investigations by the judicial authorities, train circulation was suspended on Saturday evening and over ten trips were subject to changes in route and delays, with one cancellation.
