According to what has emerged, the child did not present any injuries very serious, neither on the head nor on the rest of the body, so it seems probable that death could have been caused by drowning. The well, which is located in the Falabia district and is about 15 meters deep, was half covered in water, so it is conceivable that it was unable to stay afloat.
In the next few hours, the Prosecutor’s Office will order the release of the body to allow the family to celebrate the funeral rite which will coincide with the proclamation of the city mourning in Palazzolo Acreide, while the investigations to try to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the tragedy.

There are currently nine people under investigation for manslaughter, including the owner of the land where the well is located and the 54 year old educator who tried to save the child by throwing himself into the cavity, unfortunately without success, together with seven other operators present at the time.
Investigators are examining various aspects, including the roles that each of them had on that day, for which the Prosecutor’s Office is proceeding with a screening, considering that, overall, on that dramatic day there were about fifteen people.
