BARI – During an attempted attack on an ATM in Bitonto, in the province of Bari, two alleged criminals were seriously injured in the explosion and their accomplices left them in front of the Bari Polyclinic.
It happened last night at 3. Investigations are underway by the agents of the Bitonto Police Station and the Flying Squad of the Bari Police Headquarters. Investigations by the Scientific Police. One is hospitalized in the intensive care unit, the other is undergoing delicate surgery because the explosion would have hit him full in the face.
The ATM that was attacked was that of the Deutsche Bank in Viale della Repubblica in Bitonto. The explosion occurred around 3am last night. The one who acted would have been a group of at least five people. Two of them were seriously injured and are in the Bari Polyclinic. They are two men: one is hospitalized in the intensive care unit with brain haemorrhages while the other is still in the operating room for a delicate facial operation. The police officers are examining the images recorded by the video surveillance systems of the area and of the credit institution that recorded the robbery.
It is not clear whether the group managed to take away the box containing the money: the explosion, which woke up and scared the residents, caused the collapse of the compartment where the cash dispenser was located and it will take a few more hours to determine whether the money was taken away. The forensic police also intervened on site and carried out surveys useful for reconstructing the event.
