The situation of workplace deaths in Lazio is out of control, as underlined by Alessio D’Amato, regional councilor and commissioner of Azione Lazio. The latest events, including the atrocious death of Satnam Singh and that of the young electrician Valerio Salvatore, highlight an urgent problem. Valerio Salvatore, 29 years old, is died due to the collapse of the shed roof he was working on.
As reported by the newspaper LatinaOggi, Luigi Guerriero, 62, also died after being engulfed in flames while working on a tractor.
These accidents bring the number of workplace victims to five in just a few days, a massacre that has sparked an urgent call for intervention. D’Amato asked for the establishment of joint prefecture-Inspection-Inail and ASL task forces in each province, starting from the southern Pontine area, and criticized the inertia of the Region, which has not yet established a commission of inquiry into work black and gangmaster.
