VERONA – Since dawn, on the delegation of the Verona Prosecutor’s Office, the Carabinieri of the Parona Valpolicella Station Command, assisted by the local force and supported by the territorially competent commands of the force, have carried out precautionary measures in the province of Brescia, issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Verona , against dthe 5 people (1 in prison and 4 under house arrest), suspected of having committed, for various reasons, a series of scams against the elderly in the city of Verona.

LAnd investigations coconducted by the Carabinieri under the direction of the Scaligera Prosecutor’s Office, allowed us to collect a series of serious clues regarding 6 subjects in total, all residing in the Brescia area and operating in the Verona area, responsible for 15 scam episodesconsumed between November 2022 and June 2023.



A real partnership dedicated to sale and home installation of gas/anti detectorsnunnecessary fires at people’s homes age’ advanced, upon payment of disproportionate sums compared to the actual service rendered.

Specifically, the offenders, after having qualified as technicians delegated by state/regional/municipal bodies at the victims’ homes, with artifices they convinced them to purchase the aforementioned non-mandatory devices and to sign a fictitious assistance contract.





They entered amounts higher than those agreed upon on the POS

Subsequently, when paying with the posincreased the price exponentially previously agreed (even 10 times), without the customers’ knowledge.



On some occasions, probably the same they affixed false paper notices in the entrance halls of the condominiums of interestto legitimize the their controls at the impianti of private apartments in the following days and, therefore, to reassure residents of the quality of their activities.

During the operation, at least 1000 “notice to citizens” flyers of the same wording were found at the homes of the suspects, as well as various POS, smoke detectors and a technician’s jacket. Finally, an unusual “decalogue” was found in which methods, schemes and key phrases/words for relating to potential customers were reported.

The gang unmasked by the Carabinieri

Thanks to the meticulous work carried out by Carabinieri, LAnd investigations led to the identification of gang leader, a convicted felon 57 years old, owner of a company to which the proceeds of the scams carried out were directedsubsequently sent to prison. The other suspects, all Italians aged between 40 and overaged between 30 and 30, were subjected under house arrest, except a 35 year old, resident in the province of Mantuawhich is was reported on the loose, with the support of the territorially competent command.
