The communities of Palazzolo sull’Oglio and Pontoglio in Brescia are shocked by the death of Lorenzo Raccagni, who died in a tragic motorcycle accident in Piano di Costa Volpino in the early afternoon of Sunday 30 June. His wife Daniela Masneri, riding with him, is still hospitalised at the Poliambulanza in Brescia and in manyamong the messages of condolence that arrived throughout the day yesterday, also focus on her speedy recovery.
Lorenzo Raccagni (aka Ivan)
Raccagni, who despite his first name was called Ivan by everyone, had not managed to avoid the impact with a Fiat Panda driven by an 82-year-old from Costa Volpino, along the road leading to Lovere. Efforts to revive him on the spot were in vain.
A metalworker in a company in Calcio, Raccagni was originally from Pontoglio, but had moved to Palazzolo over twenty years ago. Passionate about mountains, he was also known as a volunteer for Pro Palazzolo, a Serie D football teamand of the food and wine association «Articolo 5°», with which he also promoted opportunities to raise funds for charity. His children, his father Francesco and his siblings Lara and Iuri are mourning him at the mortuary set up at the Casa del commiato in Palazzolo. The funeral will be held on Wednesday 3 July at 9.30 in the parish church of San Giuseppe, in the Brescia town.
