Fatal accident for a 23-year-old: investigation for manslaughter

A turning point in the investigation into the tragic accident that occurred on Wednesday 26 June in Turate: for the death of Richard Legnani a motorist is being investigated for manslaughter.

Woman investigated for manslaughter

On June 26, a fatal accident occurred in Turate around 9:30 p.m. between Via Cavour and Via Cattaneo, which caused the death of a 23-year-old. The victim was the young man from Rescaldina, Riccardo Legnani. At first, the police thought that the motorcyclist had done it all alone. However, from the investigations that followed, the dynamics of the accident would lead to another conclusion. In fact, from the images of a camera near the site of the accident, the motorcyclist can be seen overtaking a van and then returning to his lane. At the same time, however, in the opposite direction, a car with a woman from Cogliate on board began to overtake another car that was traveling in front, passing a few meters from the 23-year-old who would have fallen right in front of the vehicle.

Car seized

The vehicle was seized for further checks by the Carabinieri. Both the young man and the woman, as emerged from the images of the cameras, were overtaking in violation of the highway code at the intersection with Via Cattaneo. The woman, who works in Turate, justified herself by saying that she had not noticed anything, an impossible circumstance since the images show that the motorcycle fell right at the height of the car. Furthermore, the driver did not spontaneously report to the Carabinieri even after the news of the accident and death began to circulate. Hence, the complaint.
