New accident during the night along the regional road 56, between Mossa and Lucinico. At the intersection of via Udine, the underpass of via del Camposanto and via della Stesa, a motorcycle and a car were involved. The event occurred around 11.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 19 June), resulting in one person being injured who fortunately did not suffer serious injuries: this was the centaur, who was transported to the hospital in Gorizia. The driver of the Fiat Panda was uninjured, while the front part of the vehicle was heavily damaged.

The Carabinieri from the Savogna d’Isonzo station intervened on site to carry out the investigations and manage traffic, while the firefighters of the provincial command were also present. The new episode was denounced by the citizens’ group cwho has been asking for a speed limitation on the stretch for some time. Claudio Franzò and Sergio Medeot point out that «now, if ever needed, there is also a formal document that attests to these excesses. The survey was carried out by the local police command of Gorizia in April for four days, at the crucial and most dangerous point of the road.”

It is precisely the intersection of via alla Stesa (Gorizia) and via del Camposanto (Mossa) with regional 56, halfway along the straight. «We go from peaks of 120 kilometers per hour in the direction of Lucinico – they note -, of 150 kilometers per hour in the direction of Mossa, with mopeds going easily at 143 kilometers per hour. Even taking into account the presence of emergency vehicles, a serious and unacceptable situation is clearly evident due to its danger and the liveability of those who live there. It is enough to spend five minutes on this stretch to realize what is happening.”

«Then two questions must be asked to those responsible – urge the residents, who have already promoted a collection of signatures in the past to ask for answers – how can these violations be allowed to happen in a residential area? Why do public bodies, which are responsible for road management and ensuring safety, not intervene despite repeated requests? These are questions that have been waiting for a concrete response for at least four years, when a petition has been submitted requesting urgent action.”
