Spoleto Hospital, the first – perfectly successful – head and neck surgery operation was performed yesterday

First head and neck surgery carried out yesterday, Wednesday 12 June, at the “San Matteo degli Infermi” hospital in Spoleto.

The procedure – perfectly successful – was performed on a patient, who will soon be discharged, by the surgical team of the “Santa Maria” Hospital of Terni directed by Professor Nicola Avenia with the support of colleagues from the “San Giovanni Battista” hospital doctors Paolo Stella and Piergiorgio Tacchi from Foligno and the doctors from Spoleto from the “San Matteo degli Infermi” surgery unit.

The professor. Avenia and the surgeons from Foligno thanked the doctors of the Surgery, Operating Room and Anesthesia of Spoleto for their effective contribution in organizational and professional terms, highlighting the positive and constructive climate found in the “San Matteo degli Infermi” hospital, a fundamental element for the start-up at full capacity and the definitive consolidation of this new surgical activity which will represent – according to the plans of the strategic management of the Umbria 2 Local Health Authority – an important feather in the cap of the Spoleto hospital.

The company management with the general director Dr. Piero Carsili and the health director Dr. Nando Sarpelli who worked in line with regional indications, together with the director of the hospital, Dr. Sergio Guido, who organized the first operating session and followed the procedures for the start of this new head and neck surgery activity closely and with great attention, expresses great satisfaction for the success of the operation, thanks the staff of health company and the Terni hospital for the professionalism, competence and team work that qualifies the healthcare response of the “San Matteo degli Infermi” for the benefit of the community.

“This activity – explains the general director Dr. Piero Carsili – is part of the process of integration with the Terni hospital which we are also extending to the Spoleto hospital with the start of head-neck surgery and the definition of the now forthcoming collaboration and synergy for the use of latest generation linear accelerator of the ‘San Matteo degli Infermi’. In this regard, I thank the management of the Terni hospital for their willingness to build together, through a common commitment, this project to strengthen hospital services”.
