Meraki Quartet in concert in Sassari

The last appointment of the event – which this year has 35 dates – before the break in July and August will feature the Meraki Quartet, made up of students from the institute in Piazzale Cappuccini in Sassari

SASSARI – Wednesdays at the Conservatory bid farewell to summer with a jazz concert. On 26 June at 7pm, in the Sassu room, the last event of the event – which this year has 35 dates – before the July and August break will have as its protagonist the Meraki Quartet, made up of students from the institute in Piazzale Cappuccini in Sassari. Luca Lattanzio (guitar), Mirco Doro (guitar), Antonello Baule (double bass) and Paolo Addis (drums) will perform some of Duke Ellington’s most famous songs, in a tribute to the legendary American pianist, composer and conductor. During the evening, the quartet will perform some of the most well-known songs composed or brought to global success by “The Duke”, from Solitude to Take the “A” Train, from In a sentimental mood to Caravan, C jam blues, Isfahan, Take the Coltrane.

The Meraki Quartet was born from the desire of its members to compare themselves with the main jazz composers through the elaboration of the most important works. The training took part in seminars and masterclasses with renowned teachers in Sardinia and the Peninsula, taking part in various exhibitions and festivals. In Wednesday’s concert he will offer his own interpretation of some songs that have gone down in history, the result of the genius of one of the greatest exponents of jazz who ever lived, moving between tradition and modernity and taking inspiration from the legendary interpreters of this musical genre. “The Wednesdays of the Conservatory” have so far offered 20 concerts, representing all the souls of “Canepa”: from jazz to chamber music, from ancient to contemporary music, offering the opportunity to perform not only to great guests and the illustrious teachers of the school but also to students who, in this way, have the opportunity to interact with a real audience in one of the most evocative and prestigious places in the city. The exhibition will resume on September 4th and will continue until late November.
