Special edition of “Icons of Art”, an event dedicated to the art of mosaic, which this year offers an exceptional collective work. The Naonis association of Pordenone obtained funding for winning the “Per Chi Crea” tender (2023 edition) announced by Siae and the Ministry of Culture, and this led to the creation of 5 mosaic portraits by 5 young artists, whose average age is around 30, who graduated from the Mosaic School of Friuli and which today operate in artisan workshops spread throughout Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The theme of the collective is dedicated to famous women who have distinguished themselves in the world of art and international entertainment. These are the artists portrayed in mosaic: Frida Kahlo by Denise Toson, Katy Perry by Debora Franco, Margot Robbie by Stefano Marroffino, Shakira by Francesca Cafarelli and Julia Roberts by Alessia Lovato.

The collective work will be presented to the public as a national preview Friday 14 June 2024 at 6.00 pm in a prestigious place such as the Civic Art Museum of Palazzo Ricchieri, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pordenone. Everyone is invited to the inauguration.

«The valorization of young artists – declares the deputy mayor and councilor for culture Alberto Parigi – it is one of the cornerstones of the cultural choices of the municipal administration. A process that takes place through events, initiatives, exhibitions and which involves schools, associations and individual artists. In this case the city’s civic museum opens its doors to absolute international excellence: the Mosaic School of Friuli with its talented students. All this thanks to the cultural association Naonis which has been promoting “Icons of Art” for years now. A successful format in which the ancient flavor of mosaic art combines with the representation of the pop icons of our era and, this year, with the tools of digital reality. A fascinating mix that enhances the municipal museum and becomes an opportunity to visit or revisit it».

Icons of Art / Mosaic Young Talent is a project conceived by the Naonis Association, created in collaboration with the Mosaic School, with the contribution of the FVG Region and the Friuli Foundation, with the support of Confartigianato Pordenone. Thanks to an EU Next Generation PNRR funding, dedicated to supporting the cultural and creative sectors for innovation and digital transition, a section within the museum will offer the public the digital aspects of the initiative, with video projections and digital processing of photos of the mosaics created in recent years, in order to protect the existing artistic heritage and to disseminate it through new channels. On Saturdays and Sundays the architect Guglielmo Zanette, artistic director of the Naonis Association, will accompany spectators through guided tours to introduce the public to the talent and great artistic work of the young master mosaic artists involved in the initiative.

The exhibition will be open to visitors with free entry until 14 July at the following times: Friday 3pm-7pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-1pm and 3pm-7pm.
