Romania and Belgium they qualify for the Euro 2024 round of 16: Slovakia finishes in third place, while Ukraine is eliminated. This is the response of Group E, the most balanced and uncertain. The four teams all finish with four points: Iordanescu’s men finish in the lead and end up in the left part of the scoreboard together with Italy. Romania and the Azzurri could meet in the semi-finals. Belgium will instead face France in the round of 16. Slovakia, which finished in third place, is waiting to know the outcome of the evening’s matches: it could face England (and at that point become a possible opponent of the Azzurri in the quarter-finals) or Spain.

Romania finishes in the lead
Romania finishes first in the group, thanks to a 1-1 draw against Slovakia. Balanced first half: Slovakia one step away from the lead in the 22nd minute: Haraslin’s free kick goes across the face of the goal and the ball is lost a few centimeters from the post. A minute later Calzona’s men broke the deadlock: Kucka’s cross and Duda’s imperious header: it was the first goal of the tournament for the Verona midfielder. Romania’s equalizer came thirteen minutes later: Hagi earned a penalty which Empoli midfielder Marin converted. In the second half (with the teams on the pitch in pouring rain) a double opportunity for Romania (with Dragus and Marin) and a dangerous attempt by Haraslin for Slovakia, with the ball touching the post. In the final the pace slows down and the two teams seem to be satisfied with a draw.
