“Of Battisti and Mogol, of the Festivalbar, but what do the 2000 know”: it begins with this incipit of the song “But what do the 2000 know” by Gabry Ponte the 90s themed event that took place on the evening of Friday 28 June at the Bergamo NXT.

The official debut in our city for the event “I want to go back to the 90s”, and could only attract people of all age ranges; from the over 40s (who were teenagers in the 90s), through to those born between the “Notte Magiche” World Cup and the Millenium Bug, up to the new generations who grew up with nostalgic parents or siblings.

A show lasting about two hours for both adults and children, with friendly mascots (see Homer and Bart Simpson, the Teletubbies and Doraemon who danced on stage), dancers, special effects, confetti, streamers, the launch of themed gadgets and balloons, all expertly animated by the singer and a DJ who did not stop for a second from making the entire Piazzale degli Alpini jump, sing and dance.

GIGI D’AGOSTINO, GABRY PONTE AND FRANCHINO: A CONCENTRATE OF EMOTIONS AND FUN

It’s difficult to fit in all the songs, cartoon theme songs or highlights of the 90s in two hours, but certainly in this chaos of memories and nostalgia three founders of 90s dance music could not be missing, such as “Il Capitano” Gigi D’Agostino, Gabry Ponte and a sweet memory for Franchinowho passed away last May 19th.

There was also space for our childish side to resurface thanks to the theme songs of immortal cartoons such as Pokemon and Dragon Ball, as well as a dutiful part dedicated to one of the most awaited moments by the public of the 90s: the karaoke with Fiorello.

“North South West East” and “You are in a myth” by 883“I Belong to You” by Amber Angelspassing through “Spaccacuore” by Samuel Bersanijust to awaken even our most romantic and at the same time traumatic part, resulting in tears for those past loves that perhaps ended abruptly.

Speaking of broken, pending loves and disappointments, the evening ended with a choir of voices singing “Come mai” in unison, between final kisses and hugs that demonstrated once again how the 90s will forever remain a very pleasant memory of our life.
