As announced at the end of the demonstration on 22 June, the CGIL returns to Latina on 6 July to keep the spotlight on gangmastering and the battle against the Bossi Fini law, which fuels it. Below is the letter that the general secretary Maurizio Landini published inviting everyone to be there on that day. And Articolo 21 has already responded that it will be present.
“After the very serious events that occurred in Latina in recent days, which saw the dramatic and brutal death of Satnam Singh, which occurred following his abandonment on the street after a very serious injury while working in the fields in the Agro Pontino, we feel the The urgency and need to give an even stronger response that can involve not only the trade union world but also social realities, civil society associations, the institutional world and political organizations. For this reason, after an initial reaction with the strike in the agricultural sector proclaimed by Flai CGIL and the regional demonstration promoted by the territorial structures of the CGIL last 22
June, we felt it was necessary as CGIL to organize a large national event. To reiterate once again and more forcefully our fight against the system of gangmastering, exploitation in the fields and the irregularity in which thousands of migrants who arrive in our country in search of hope are relegated. Beating this system means canceling the Bossi Fini and the flows decree which trample on rights and are the matrix of all those forms of labor exploitation and unacceptable living conditions that led to the tragic death of Satnam Singh. The appointment is for July 6th in Latina, with a meeting scheduled for 9am at the Autolinee Nuove di Latina (Via Vittorio Cervone) and departure of the procession at 9.30am towards Piazza del Popolo in Latina.
