Florence, 1 July 2024 – The concert of Giancanethe Roman singer-songwriter who wrote the soundtracks for the two TV series of Zero limestoneand a debate on anti-fascism on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Florence will open the sixth edition of Red Starthe festival of Arci Florence, at the Rifredi SMS club which will see around 150 volunteers involved. From Wednesday 3rd to Sunday 7th July, every day talks (from 6.30pm), concerts, DJ sets and free workshops for the little ones. As regards the meetings, we start with the novel ‘On the same side you will find me’ with the author Valentina Mira and the president of Anpi Firenze Vania Bagni, then a tribute to Gabriel Garcia Marquez 10 years after his death, an evening dedicated to Israeli-Palestinian issue with the journalist and activist Ali Rashid and, again, the presentation of the book ‘Fare feminismo’ by Giulia Siviero. Of note over the weekend, in the morning, are two events dedicated to the GKN, with the Factory Collective and the assembly of the Mutualism Caravan. On stage, in addition to Giancane, the tribal percussion mixed with the psychedelia of the band Cacao Mental, the local talents Giovanni Milani and Costì, then the garage punk of the Mantuan Bee Bee Sea, the Californian DJ Al Lover, up to closing with Bernard Butler, guitarist and founder of Suede, making his solo debut. Then ‘Bliffest’ returns, the space dedicated to independent comics, while the novelty of the 2024 edition is represented by drawing, radio and chess workshops for children and teenagers of all ages. “We want it to be increasingly a popular, inclusive and accessible festival for the neighborhood and for the whole city – the comment of the president of Arci Firenze Marzia Frediani – We are happy because in this edition we have taken a further step forward, increasing the free offer for girls and boys and families, as well as having maintained the high quality of the cultural offer”.
