‘Tennistavolo Regina’ hosted the Russian champion Dmitriy Samsonov – Sanremonews.it

In recent days, a high technical school table tennis event took place in the ‘Queen Arena’ of the ‘ASDTT Regina Sanremo – Taggia – Santo Stefano al Mare’ located at the Sports Center of the Mercato dei Fiori of Valle Armea.

“The stage was directed – explains the press release – by the professional tennis player, former European champion and several times champion of the Soviet Union, Dmitriy Samsonov (53 years old) father of the tennis player Liudmila Samsonova (25 years old) currently number 15 in the world ranking, who in the past he represented Italy.

The blonde Liudmila has talent to spare when at the age of 11 she arrives in Sanremo to join the stable that a certain Riccardo Piatti, Jannik Sinner’s guru, manages in Bordighera.

Samsonov: an entire family of high-value sportsmen, his son Yaroslav plays a good level of tennis, his wife Svetlana is a former volleyball athlete and the grandfather of the house is a former skier.

In the presence of Arnaldo Morino (President of FederTennisTavolo Liguria) and under the watchful eyes of Raffaele Regina, president of the Matuzian club, some athletes of the ‘reginotto’ association have assimilated new didactic notions and technical dynamics of Olympic Sport since 1988.

These are the fearless players who, with considerable effort, tried to block the deadly shots of the legendary Dmitriy Samsonov: Bolognese Agostino, Muratori Andrea, Giraudo Roberto, Camillo Rinaldo, Ferrante Omero, Orsetti Gioele and Verda Diego.

During the summer of 2024 the strong pong player, athlete and coach, coming from the distant port city of Murmansk in the north of Russia, will be a citizen of our ‘Western Riviera’ and we will be waiting for him to hold the small Ping-Pong rackets again.

A dutiful thank you must be given to our friend ‘Dmitriy’ for the patience he had with us in the technical/competitive teaching and the sporting professionalism he showed for the benefit of our association”.
