Rome, 24 June. (askanews) – Second day of polling stations open to choose the mayor in 105 municipalities (14 capitals) of 16 regions in the run-off round. Over 3.4 million voters. All eyes on Bari, Campobasso, Florence, Lecce, Perugia and Potenza. The region with the most runoffs is Tuscany with 18 municipalities. The ballot paper presents the name and surname of the candidates for the office of mayor, with the symbols of the connected lists. The polls, closed at 11pm on Sunday evening, were reopened at 7am and will remain so until 3pm today. Counting will begin when the polls close.

The two candidates who obtained the highest number of votes in the first round, without exceeding the threshold necessary to win in the first round, participate in the run-off. This electoral round is dedicated to municipalities with more than 15 thousand inhabitants in which no candidate obtained more than 50% of the votes in the first round. But there are also some with less than 15 thousand inhabitants because the elections of 8 and 9 June ended in a draw like in Zerba, in the province of Piacenza, the smallest city to vote with 70 residents. The two mayoral candidates, Claudia Borrè (Il Castello list) and Giovanni Razzari (Zerba Futura list), obtained 28 votes each. Equality of preferences also for the mayoral candidates of the small municipalities of Tresignana (Fe), Colle d’Anchise (Cb), Valle San Nicolao (Bi), Stanto (Cn) and Pragelato (To).

The turnout at 11pm on Sunday for the municipal run-offs was 37%. The maximum peak was reached in the municipalities where voting was held in Umbria with 46.53%, while the minimum was in Liguria with 31.56%. The final figure for the first round throughout Italy was 53.21%.
