Plant biodiversity and climate change. A meeting of the GAL Valle d’Itria

The protection of biodiversity as a tool to combat climate change. This will be the topic of the GAL Valle d’Itria meeting to be held next 11 June at 6.30 pm at I Trulli di Figazzano in the countryside of Locorotondo.

An opportunity to look at the protection of biodiversity in a new light by reflecting on nature’s ability to respond to problems linked to climate change in a resilient way. We will talk about actions to protect and sustainably manage natural ecosystems, recognizing the economic importance of natural capital and attributing a real economic value to the conservation of biodiversity.

“Climate change is one of the major challenges of our time and, within this cycle of meetings dedicated to the main agri-food supply chains, we could only give space to an initiative that would allow the territory and in particular the young generations, to deepen the theme of biodiversity in a different way than usual, giving space to the economic sustainability of protection initiatives” – declared the President of the GAL Giannicola D’Amico.

We will be guided by two important sector experts: Pasquale Veneritosenior researcher at the “Basile Caramia” Agricultural Research, Experimentation and Training Center and Happy Sumaagronomist and ethnobotanical expert.

The meeting is held within the PSR Puglia 2014/2022 Measure 19.2 Support for the execution of interventions within the participatory Local Development strategy of the GAL Valle d’Itria – Action 9 intervention 1 “The agri-food supply chains between production , transformation and marketing: information meetings”.
