Mandas will leave with the Lazio next season. The club is aiming for it and reiterated its intentions also in the meeting held in Formello between the sporting director and his agent, despite the appreciation received in the Premier League. At the moment, however, the Biancoceleste does not seem to be worried about his future and the words released on the Euro Morning Show are proof of this. The Greek spoke about his debut with the eagle on his chest: “It was a match in which I didn’t know if I would play until the last minute, since we were waiting for Provedel. For me it was, I don’t want to say a dream because I’ve said it many times, but a moment that I will never forget. Because I played in a great team, in a derby that matters to many people. If I hadn’t had my teammates it wouldn’t have been easy to react, because I’ve experienced it three times this year. Two in the league, one in the cup and I understood how difficult it is, but my teammates helped me a lot.”
“My life in the capital? I was introduced to the Lazio fans in the most important match against Roma, then the love of the fans arrived immediately and intensely. Fans stop me on the street. My favorite moment is when the kids stop me. Roma fans happened to talk to me on the street, not to say something mean but to make fun of me a bit.”
“Who are your closest friends on the team? In general at the beginning I was the same with everyone because I didn’t speak the language. I especially got along well with the Spaniards, Pedro, Gila. They also came to my house.”
“How am I experiencing this moment of break from training? More peaceful for me, because I’m starting to see what has happened during the year. I can evaluate things better. The passion and enthusiasm I had when we played are no longer there. Because for me too it was something new to play in Italy. I enjoy it more now than I did then. I see it more clearly and recognize how big it was and how much I wanted it. It’s a little difficult because you have little time to enjoy it. Once you reach a goal, you must immediately aim for the next one. We have learned to live with it and we find a way to do it.”
