Trap in Palermo, Milanese students robbed at ATMs, three arrests

A banal approach with the request for a cigarette turned into a nightmare for two young students of a Milanese high school, brutally robbed in a side street of Via Roma in Palermo.

The city’s police recently put an end to the freedom of three individuals, two 39-year-old men and one 27-year-old, all already known to the authorities, accused of aggravated robbery.

The events took place one evening at the end of September last year, when the two students, just 18 years old, were approached and then surrounded by the three men.

Under threat, they were forced to go to an ATM, where they were forced to withdraw money. The criminals managed to steal 450 euros before fleeing.

Fortunately, the investigations were able to make use of the video surveillance images of the banking institution, fundamental for the identification and arrest of those responsible, now detained in the Lorusso Pagliarelli prison in Palermo.

This incident highlights a growing urban problem, where young people and tourists are being targeted by criminals who exploit their vulnerability. The robbery sparked outrage in the local community and among the citizens of Milan, where the young victims came from.

The arrest of the three men is a strong signal from the police, who continue to work incessantly to guarantee safety in the city’s streets and to combat the phenomenon of aggressive robberies, especially in areas with high tourist and student attendance.

Authorities urge anyone in similar situations to report it to law enforcement immediately, to prevent further incidents and protect the community.
