New bins for mowing and pruning and computerized houses for non-residents arrive in Faenza

Starting from early July to Faenza, 44 new containers will be installed for the collection of cuttings and prunings, which can be opened with a key and intended exclusively for users who have a garden and who have joined the ‘Adopt a bin’ project. Furthermore, they will be introduced three new computerized boxes dedicated to domestic users for non-residents.

These interventions represent the final pieces of the service changes that began in February 2023, which included the recent change in the frequency of paper and plastic collection for families in residential areas.

Although the launch of the new door-to-door collection services, initially scheduled for February 2023, was delayed due to the floods that hit the city, postponing the implementation to September 2023, data for the first quarter of 2024 show growth constant in the percentages of separate waste collection with an average of 77.3% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to 64% in 2023.

These positive results obtained confirm the effectiveness of the new measures and the community’s commitment to sustainable waste management.

44 bins thanks to the “Adopt a bin” survey.

Thanks to the ‘Adopt a bin’ survey already tested in another municipality in the Faentina Romagna, 44 street bins for grass cuttings and prunings will be installed, which can be opened with a key, for the exclusive use and management of users who have requested and will request them.

Created to support families with a green area, the ‘Adopt a bin for mowing and pruning’ project was launched by the Municipality of Faenza, in collaboration with Hera. The Municipality has in fact decided to launch, starting from March 2024, a survey aimed at the residents of the 4 residential areas, Borgo Durbecco, Centro Storico, Granarolo, Reda, Borgo Tuliero and Santa Lucia to evaluate, together with the citizens, the opportunity of activate the experimental project. Following the interest shown by citizens, the Municipality decided to continue with the project.

Requirements and methods of use of the bins

For each bin, the request of at least 30 users living nearby is required. The management and emptying of the bins will be handled by Hera with established frequencies. It is the responsibility of those who adopt the bin to take care of it and promptly report any improper use.

How to request the service and receive the key

The online form to request activation of the service and receive the key to open the bins will be active until August 31st and can be reached via this link: https://apps.comune.faenza.ra.it/limesurvey/index.php /947113?lang=en

From 1 September, any additional stations will be defined, based on the new requests received.

The delivery of the keys for access to the new services will take place in two tranches:

1. Users who have filled out the form by May 17th will be able to collect the keys at the info point active in the first two weeks of July 02, 04, 09 and 11 July from 4.00pm to 8.00pm) and 06 and 13 July (from 8.30am to 12.30) in Piazza della Libertà, Faenza. During this period, Hera staff will be available to provide support to those who encounter difficulties in accessing the online form.

2. For those who book until August 31st, they will be able to collect the keys approximately around mid-September at further info points that will be organized.

It is emphasized that the project ‘Adopt a bin for grass cuttings and prunings’ is an integrative “solution” aimed at supporting citizens in the disposal of this type of waste. The standard disposal methods therefore remain unchanged, namely:

· display of up to 4 bags of maximum 10kg each for leaves and cuttings, together with the brown bin for organic waste delivered by the operators during the distribution phase;

· Free collection of up to 3 cubic meters by appointment (bookable via Call Center or Rifiutologo App);

Drop off at the Ecological Station (via Righi, 6, Faenza).

3 new computerized houses for non-residents

At the same time, three computerized boxes dedicated to non-resident domestic users have been installed, accessible via the Emerald Card, to allow the collection of domestic waste (undifferentiated, organic, paper and cardboard, plastic, cans and glass) at any time. The stations are located in:

– Piazzale Pancrazi

– Via Fornarina, in the parking lot of the Borgo Shopping Center

– Parking at the Le Maioliche Shopping Center, via Bisaura
