Valerio Corvisieri presents his book dedicated to the City of Sunday

The presentation of “The Hill of Dreams. The City of Sunday, the first Italian amusement park” Of Valerio Corvisieri, biographer of the Spagnoli family edited by Intermedia Edizioni, will take place on Sunday 30 June, at 5.30 pm in the Winter Garden of the City of Sunday, a symbolic place in Perugia, rich in history and magic.

The volume is part of the “Discovering Perugia” series that Intermedia Edizioni curates with passion, dedicating it to our town. This occasion is dedicated to the oldest Italian amusement park, a sort of Italian Disneyland, as the Città della Domenica was defined, the wildlife amusement park for families located in Perugia in the Ferro di Cavallo area. Inaugurated on 21 April 1963, it was the first amusement park to open in Italy, created on the initiative of the Perugian entrepreneur Mario Spagnoli (1900-1977), son of Luisa Spagnoli (the one who invented the Bacio chocolate today known as Bacio Perugina) transforming the land he owned on Monte Pulito into an ideal city for families and leisure. Its extension boasts well over 45 hectares of greenery, the park embraces a hill that offers a breathtaking 360° view of Perugia, offering visitors one of the most fascinating views of Umbria.

The presentation will be attended by the Author, Teresa Severini and Marco Nicoletti, Maddalena Furbetta and Alessandro Guidi, administrator and director of the current Park, as well as representatives of the Spagnoli family.

The park is an attraction for both adults and children. It’s like entering a fairy tale, immersing yourself in magic through a route that can be traveled on foot or on board a train that leads you to discover what is hidden inside.

A fairy-tale journey, made up of many attractions that intrigue the traveler in the world of fairy tales such as Sleeping Beauty Castle in the woods, Merlin’s Tower, Snow White’s House, Pinocchio’s Village, the Ponte Matto or in the wildlife areas with kangaroos, bison, yaks, ostriches, antelopes, Patagonian hares and one of the largest reptile houses in Europe as well as mechanical attractions for children such as the Lake with motorboats. You can also meet Burro, the adorable White Donkey of Asinara, symbol of the commitment to saving species at risk of extinction.

Those who visit this magical place are certainly fascinated by it, exploring the paths and discovering a route full of surprises, being in contact with animals where respect and love for nature come first.

Admission to the meeting is free.
